Meet the Owner
Joshua and Jenna were both raised in the New River Valley and had a deep affection for the New River Valley. They are happiest outside exploring and spending time with their family.
Jenna left her career at the VT Corporate Research Center to pursue her dream of owning and operating a bed and breakfast. She started with Clay Corner Inn, in Blacksburg and has now expanded to include The Oaks Victorian Inn. Joshua is a graduate of Virginia Tech with a degree in business and works by her side helping manage day-to-day operations.
They have two daughters. Six year old Aniston, who loves exploring all the nooks and crannies at The Oaks Victorian Inn. And they just welcomed Bristol on Valentine’s Day 2023.
Together, their passion is creating memories that last forever.
A classic example of a Queen Anne period residence, The Oaks Victorian Inn was constructed for William L. Pierce, a local insurance executive and landowner. An early graduate of Virginia A and M (Virginia Tech). He and his wife, Julia, raised seven children on the property. Following his death in 1949, his widow continued to live here until she passed away in 1968. Old photos have been found and framed, and guest rooms are now named for different members of the Pierce family.
This 75-year occupancy accounts for the remarkably unaltered state of the house. Many requisite elements of Queen Anne architecture remain in place like a complex roof line, corner tower, shingled and weatherboarded sheathing, and hospitable, spacious wrap-around front and side porch.
The porch is a uniquely American feature of this essentially British style. Decorative pseudo-half-timbering adorns the gables, and the interior woodwork, fireplaces, stained glass stairway window, and a Jacobean-style staircase are reminiscent of this grand style of the late 19th century.
The Oaks Victorian Inn opened in the late 1980s and enjoyed the prestigious AAA 4-diamond award for 20 consecutive years. The property changed hands a few times across a decade or more. It had been closed for about four years, when the most recent previous owners purchased it and they spent weeks breathing new life into the property.
In 2023, Jenna Roseberry purchased The Oaks Victorian Inn. She, alongside her husband, manages the beautiful Inn along with her property in Blacksburg. Being their second Bed & Breakfast, they bring all the hopes and enthusiasm of anyone who loves the bed and breakfast segment of the hospitality industry. The charm, appeal, and location drew them in like it draws so many of our guests.
We were lucky enough to secure the last room in this fabulous inn a few weekends ago while visiting our son at VA Tech. We could not have imagined a better experience. ... We also appreciated the historical tour of their home and how they have incorporated this house’s history into the furnishings and decor. We can’t wait for an opportunity to stay with them again!
